Sports Orthotics

Some of the conditions we treat may be familiar to you, many serious sports men and women regularly suffer with pain during their respective sporting activities or during supplementary training. It is often remarked that pain is part of active and sustained training and should be accepted as such (“No gain, without pain”) but it is not normal and most sporting injuries can often be avoided or successfully addressed and eliminated.

Our specialist sports orthotics will allow you to perform and enjoy your chosen sport to your optimum ability and potential, hopefully pain free.

Our sports orthotics are tailored with specific sport requirements in mind some sports for example demand a flexible orthotic to enable rapid directional changes, some need to incorporate shock absorption qualities to cope with high impact.

If you are active in multiple disciplines you will not need orthotics for each different sport most will be compatible with footwear of a similar type e.g. Football, Rugby, Hockey, distance running, cricket etc. However some sports do demand specific needs e.g. sprinting, cycling, golf etc.

Whatever your specific requirements we can accommodate them.

Children’s Orthotic Foot Care

(See conditions common in children)

We regularly receive referrals from Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, particularly those who deal with paediatric patients.

Anxious parents frequently seek help and advice from the orthopaedic surgeon having noticed a problem with their child. Maybe a general awkwardness when walking or at play. The child may complain of heel, knee or leg pains. The condition is typically a symptom of underlying foot imbalance. The consultant will reassure the child’s parents and advise referral to us for assessment.

We use a unique system of children’s orthotics called skeletal balance, the results of which are often remarkable. The child’s condition can dramatically improve and in some cases be pain free within a matter of days.

For a more specialised prescription orthotic we can laser scan your child’s foot.

A prescription orthotic insurance policy is now available to enable you to insure against rapid out growth, loss and theft.
